• ElecLink will have a transmission capacity of 1000MW corresponding to its grid connection agreements and link the 400kV AC grids of France and Great Britain. ElecLink will employ high voltage direct current converter stations using voltage source converter technology at each side of the Channel Tunnel. 400kV AC underground cables will connect the converter stations to the TSO's high voltage substations: Sellindge (NGET, UK) and Les Mandarins (RTE, France). The converter station on the Eurotunnel site at Folkestone will be connected by one 400kV AC cable circuit to the National Grid substation at Sellindge. The route length is approximately 14km. The converter station on the Eurotunnel site at Coquelles will be connected by one 400kV AC cable circuit to the RTE substation at Les Madarins. The route length is approximately 3.5km. An approximately 52km long HVDC cable circuit will connect the two converter stations via the Channel Tunnel between Folkestone and Coquelles. This will involve two single-core HVDC cables operating at +-320kV DC. Please note that in the section below we provided an address for the CMU which relates to the UK converter station site. Of course, given the CMU is an interconnector there are a variety of sites which are owned/managed by ElecLink and relate to the CMU, as additional information we have provided details of those sites below. Please note also that we have provided the grid reference points which most closely correspond to the sites, however the postcode for the address will capture a wider area. Sellindge substation Church Lane Aldington Ashford TN25 6SS Grid reference: TR082383 Converter station at Coquelles, France Eurotunnel Entrance Centre De Secours, 3573 Chemin Rouge Cambre, 62231 Coquelles, France Grid reference: TR657202 We wish to clarify here that while ElecLink has acceded to the BSC we have not yet begun installing or testing metering systems. Therefore, MPANs and BMU IDs do not apply to the ElecLink CMU at this point in time. ElecLink will ensure that the Delivery Body is updated as required once the metering systems are completed.
